EuroArts Music International was founded in 1979 by Bernd Hellthaler. Soon, the company became internationally renowned for the production and distribution of audiovisual classic music, jazz as well as other music and art programmes for TV and home video. Today the company sells the catalogues of EuroArts Music, Germany and Idéale Audience, Paris as well as BBC Legends and BBC Classic Archive Programs. Besides its own productions and back catalogue, EuroArts also distributes programmes of various independent producers. It is active in TV Licensing, DVD and Audio Distribution with more than 300 titles as well as it distributes digital files and other Internet applications.
First Class Entertainment Music & Film programming with performances and documentaries became EuroArts' main focus. The current TV Broadcast catalogue contains more than 1,300 programmes of music material that includes all prominent artists in classical and contemporary music of the past five decades. The EuroArts Label distributes its catalogue with more than 400 titles worldwide through its international distribution network partner Naxos Global.
Within exclusive or long lasting relationships with artists and conductors, such as Sir Simon Rattle, The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, the great director Bruno Monsaingeon and world class performers like Martha Argerich, Andras Schiff or, from the younger Generation Lang Lang and Yuja Wang- the company has become one of the few big names in classic music industry.
Innovation and quality characterize the company’s business. The achievements include numerous international awards such as the Oscar (for the co-production of “Journey of Hope”), a Peabody Award and Grammy Award Nomination (for “Blue Note – A Story of Modern Jazz”), an Emmy Award Nomination (for “Robbie Robertson”), the Emmy Award (for “Knowledge is the Beginning”), the Grammy Award (for “Kurt Weill’s Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny”), the National Education Award (USA), and many more.
EuroArts is actively producing 15 titles and is aquiring and releasing about the same number of new programmes a year, licences television rights to more than 150 clients in 40 countries around the world, releases 60 titles per year on DVD and Blu-ray by its own label department, has VOD activities through its international distribution network, and runs its own IPTV Channel in Asia.
In 2010 EuroArts entered into the most exciting field of 3D film production and started the first 3D production in
Germany in cooperation with context tv and Sony: “Lang Lang – The Third Dimension (Berghain, Berlin)”. This was the start of a promising and successful series of 3D Music Performance films which are to be continued with the “Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 3D in Singapore” and a strand of programmes produced at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.
